KOHL's is one of the nation's largest retailers. The newest store in Alabama is in Jones Valley. Employees and managers have wasted little time getting involved in the community. Among the first projects KOHL's undertook - was a landscape project at Goldsmith Schiffman Elementary School.
General Manager Kevin Flowers says this is deep in the fabric of the company.
"It's important to give back," said Flowers. "In all of our markets, we work to get involved in the community."
The scope of KOHL's financial gift is impressive by itself. But there was more!
"The icing on the cake was Mr. Flowers and his team personally coming to the school and spending half a day with the kids and actively working around the school," said Erin Boles, Chairperson of Green Fling. "Their donation more than covered the cost of the trees, and their volunteer hours were very generous."
KOHL's worked side by side with GS Elementary students weeding flower beds and planting trees. You can learn more about KOHL's initiatives around the country via their KOHL's Cares website.
KOHL's consistently receives high marks by trade and civic associations for working as a green organization and also donating back to the community.
